PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN TIMES (SEE SCHEDULE) FOR BANTAM GIRLS AND BOYS ON THURSDAYS.
Once again KAMBA is participating in the NBA Raffle fundraiser. The coaches will be distributing the ticket books over the next couple of weeks. These fundraisers and sponsor support allow us to keep our rates low.
The grand prize for the raffle consists of two tickets to see the New York Knicks vs. Toronto Raptors on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Airfares for two, two nights’ accommodations (downtown), and $250 spending money are also included. This year we are also giving the winning ticket holder the option to take $2000 instead of the NBA weekend package. If the NBA season is cancelled, the prize will be $2000.
There will be prizes for top sellers: the top seller in each division (Little Tykes to Bantam) will receive a Nor'easter's bag and the overall top seller will receive a Nore'easters jacket.

Nor'easters’ Basketball has secured tickets for Summerside Storm’s Game on Wednesday October 26th at 7 p.m. at Credit Union Place. Tickets are currently limited to two (2) tickets per registered player, though additional tickets may be available later if they are not all spoken for.
To get your tickets, please call Todd Woodside at 954-1206 (cell) or 836-4777 (home) by October 21st and let him know how many tickets you could use so we know our total numbers (all players are guaranteed two tickets). The seats are grouped together.
NOTE: we will still have our regularly scheduled Little Tykes and Small Ball sessions that evening.

Helping Hoops....
The annual Helping Hoops Basketball event will be taking place this Friday evening from 4:30pm - 9:30 pm at Three Oaks. This is an annual fundraising event to raise money for families in Summerside and Africa. Check out the youtube video from a few years ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMk9PLNo4wo.
It would be great if some of our KAMBA players participated in this event. There will be five hours of basketball, silent auction, and the chance to make a donation to the cause.

U13 and U14 Spring Teams Try-out
Try-outs for girls and boys U13 and U14 spring Basketball teams are underway. These tryouts are for the Prince County Teams which will compete for the chance to attend the Eastern Canadians in St. Johns, NL. If you are interested in playing but cannot attend a try-out please let your respective coach know. Players are encouraged to attend at least two of the tryouts. Please check back here daily as additional times will be posted once confirmed. KAMBA players are urged to tryout.

Congratulations to the Bantam Girls on their weekend success of two wins and one loss in exciting, close games, including an overtime win! Well done. That’s the highest level of play we have faced as a team in our two years and most of the players we faced were grade 8s. If there is a will to do so, we will play in this tournament next year and this year’s grade 7s will be the starters; work hard in the off-season. Special thanks to MacEwen Farms Ltd. for all your help with the weekend.
The Bantam Girls do have some more games coming up before our season ends: Stratford this weekend and the Charlottetown Tigers Mini Rep team. All of these games will be run in 4 minute shifts.
Tuesday's(March 08) practice times at QEES have been cancelled due to the science fair.

Carly Clarke(Head Coach for UPEI Women's Basketball) will be holding a clinic for KAMBA players on March 3rd at KISH. Please check the Schedule for details. All age groups from Small Ball to Bantam are welcome and encouraged to attend. The Junior High boys and girls teams are also welcome to attend. All players must have a ball, so you may bring your new Molten balls with you if you wish.
February 5, 2010:
We are having our first Annual Hoopathon over the next week or two. This is a club-fundraiser overseen by Basketball PEI. The players will get sponsors and then take one hundred foul shots. The money raised from this will pay for our games, tournaments, and the Provincials. We hope to raise enough money to help keep registration prices low for next year as well.
The players will receive a ballot for every $10 they raise and there will a draw for a Nor’easters Jacket.
The player who raises the most money will receive a Jacket and a gift certificate.
All players who raise $75 or more will receive a Nor’easters T-shirt.
· The Bantam team has a game in Stratford on Saturday at 10:00a.m.
· The Junior Mini team has a game in Stratford on Saturday at 11:30a.m.
· Mini-Girls are attending the Sting Tournament this weekend at Elm Street School. This is Saturday’s schedule:

· We have some league games confirmed for early in the New Year
o Charlottetown tournament for Small Ball & Jr. Mini (mixed), and Mini Girls and Mini Boys set for January 23rd.
o Mini Girls games with Summerside & Charlottetown B girls in Summerside (date to be determined)
o Games with Mini Boys against Sting Mini Boys house-league teams (looks like Saturdays)
o We are also working on games with other Island clubs
· · We are planning an outing to a UPEI Game day—passes will be supplied for parents and players. Tentative date is Jan. 17(Women Panthers at 1:00 and Men Panthers at 3:00). It will be up to parents to transport players, though there will be opportunities for carpooling. More information to follow.
· · Community Coaching course (Steve Nash Program) for our volunteer coaches will be held in January.
· · We are looking for youth in grades 7 through 9 interested in refereeing. If we get enough response from this interest call we will arrange training. Referees do not have to be players, though they will be required to develop a high-level understanding of the game. Let us know if you are interested.
· · We will be restarting when school starts (check Schedule in the New Year).
December 12:
- Our Christmas parties have been changed to adapt to available gym times. The Bantam party will be held at QEES on December 16th from 3:00-4:30.
- Little Tykes, Small Ball, Junior Mini, and Mini groups will have their Christmas Party on December 18th from 6:00-7:30(check schedule for details).
- Thank you QEES for all of the gym time! Much appreciated.
- Bantam group had their first game today against Charlottetown at Colonel Gray. There will be many more games in the New Year.
- There will be games for Junior Mini and Mini Boys and Girls in the New Year as well. Please keep an eye on the schedule.
- We hope to see a good showing of parents for the 1st Annual Parents Vs. Players Classic on the 18th.
From November 22:
- Our Christmas party for Little Tykes, Jr. Mini, and Bantam will take place on December 14th at QEES. Our Christmas party for Small Ball and Mini will take place on December 15th at QEES. There will be fun games and prizes on these evenings.
- There will be no basketball on November 30th and December 4th due to teachers’ professional development days.
- We are in the process of scheduling more games for the Jr. Mini, Mini, and Bantam divisions. Updates coming shortly.
From November 18:
- There will be a shooting clinic put on by Carly Clarke (Head Coach of UPEI girls Panthers) and four of her UPEI Panthers for KAMBA players in Junior Mini, Mini, and Bantam at KISH on Thursday December 03 from 7:00-8:30. Please try to attend as we are very thankful to have this opportunity.
- Please note that Christmas orders of KAMBA Nor’Easters’ gear can be placed until December 01, 2009. You can find the order form in the Documents section of this website or ask for a copy from one of the coaches. Samples are available to view.
- Mini Girls have a game scheduled against Sting Girls A Rep Team at SIS on November 29 from 12:00pm - 1:30pm.
- Please note that there will only be one night per week for Bantam basketball due to limited gym time at KISH. We will keep our Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30. Coaches are working on setting up games against other Bantam teams.
From November 09, 2009:
- We are starting to receive requests for games against other Island Minor Basketball organizations...and from some farther afield.
- We have a request for a Mini Boys game for this Saturday against Sting at 3:15(location TBA) We will ask parents and players on Tuesday November 10 if they are available for this game.
- A game against the Sting Mini Girls rep team is also in the works.
- Games for the Bantam level are also being arranged at this time.
- Nor'Easter Game Uniforms have been ordered for the Jr. Mini, Mini, and Bantam players. They should be here in the next couple of weeks. We ask that the players take good care of these and only wear them to games against other teams. Hopefully we can get many years of use out of these uniforms. Thank you sponsors!
- Please continue to wear the Steve Nash Jersey's to all practices. They are reversible so it makes it easier to divide teams for scrimmages.
- Volunteers:
Our organization is run by volunteers. Any parent who wishes to volunteer, please do so. We have a few excellent volunteers now, but we still need more to help out with fund raising, organizing tournaments, and parties.
From October 2009:
- We are planning to enter three teams (Mini Girls, Mini Boys, and Mixed Jr. Mini) in the 7th Annual EPMBA Sting Fall Jamboree in Summerside. The tournament has been postponed until further notice; we'll let you know as soon as we hear the new date.
- We are also planning to host a tournament in Kensington this season to help kick off the Nor'Easters. Please let us know if you would like to help(kamba@noreasters.ca)
- Our Fall season will be capped with a Christmas basketball party (games, prizes, parent/kids game etc.) prior to the Christmas break. Dates TBA.
- There are also other events in the works and we will post these here when the arrangements have been made
